Second Half Wins
Posted on November 24th, 2022.

With only a few days remaining in the year, it’s easy to feel like there isn’t time left to stop and reflect on what you've accomplished. But don’t let the pressure of your New Year's resolutions overrun your happiness. Take some time to appreciate everything you have achieved so far, because there are still plenty of ways you can make 2023 your best year ever:

Commit to getting your finances in order

  • Commit to getting your finances in order.
  • Get a second job.
  • Sell some of your stuff on eBay, Craigslist or another marketplace and use that money to pay off debt.
  • Get a part time job doing something you love and will be able to do even after the kids are older (e.g., teaching yoga).
  • Find a side hustle that pays well, but doesn't require much time like dog walking or driving for Lyft/Uber (and if it's something you love doing anyway like mine).

Schedule time with friends and family.

It's a fact: you'll be happier if you schedule time with friends and family. You can't always find moments to relax, but it's worth making the effort. The second half of life is all about taking care of yourself, so don't let your busy schedule get in the way of spending quality time with those who matter most.

Here are some tips for making time for friends and family:

  • Schedule weekly meetings with them (if they're local).
  • Prioritize their needs over work tasks when necessary - even if it means working late!

If being able to spend quality time with your loved ones seems like an impossible dream given your current circumstances, here are some tips for creating more opportunities to see them:

  • Don't take vacations alone! If possible, travel with a friend or partner who will make the experience even more enjoyable by sharing the journey alongside you. Not only does going away together mean less solo travel stress (no more packing or planning), but there's also something special about seeing new places together as well as reminiscing about old memories from back home.

Plan time off work.

The first thing people need to do is plan their time off work. The second half of the year is a perfect time to take some time off. Not only does it give you a chance to refresh your mind and body, but it can also be used as an opportunity to get some things done that could help you out in the long run.

Although this may seem like a daunting task, planning for your time off work shouldn't be too hard if you approach it correctly:

  • Ask yourself what needs doing around the house or at work that would benefit from some extra attention during this period of rest?
  • Can any personal projects or hobbies benefit from having this free block of days? If so, make sure they're on top of your list!
  • Are there any urgent matters (like returning library books) or tasks (like cleaning out closets) that need attention before getting away? If so, try scheduling them into one weeknight after work hours so they don't interfere with relaxation opportunities later on down the road

Create an exercise plan.

I’ve been exercising for the past couple of years, and it has been one of my favorite things to do. The benefits are endless, from a healthier body and mind to less anxiety and stress. You can also meet new people, learn new skills, or even just get in shape!

It’s a great way to relieve stress — exercising releases endorphins that make you feel good about yourself and encourages positivity in your life. It also helps with mental health issues like depression or anxiety by lowering cortisol levels (the hormone associated with stress). Exercise will help you sleep better at night too!

Remember what you've accomplished so far.

  • Be proud of what you've achieved.
  • Recognize that you've come a long way.
  • Be mindful of how far you've come.
  • Recognize that you've accomplished a lot.
  • Look at what you've done and be proud of it!

Identify and address your biggest obstacles.

  • Identify and address your biggest obstacles.
  • Write down a list of the biggest obstacles standing in your way. Don't worry about being comprehensive; just make sure to include items that have been on your mind lately, either because you've been feeling frustrated by them or because they're preventing you from making progress with some other project.
  • Prioritize the list—the most important items should be at the top. If you have more than three entries, pick out the ones that are holding back multiple projects in different areas of your life (work, family, recreation), and group those together under one umbrella item "Family/Relationships." This will help keep things manageable as we go forward.
  • Now consider every item on this list and ask yourself: What is an actionable thing I could do right now? For each item on my Family/Relationships bucket: Who can help me? How much time will it take? What skills do I need to learn first? These questions may lead naturally into action steps like: “Call up my brother," "Get certified in CPR" or "Apply for a grant."

Never underestimate the power of a coach.

No matter what your goals are, a coach can help you reach them. A coach can help you learn new skills, stay motivated and focused on achieving your goals, keep your eye on the prize and stay on track.

If you’re looking for that extra boost in life – whether it be sports, business or just general health & fitness – then having someone who can support you and push you when needed is invaluable.

There's still plenty of time to make this the best year ever

The best way to make the most of the second half is to make a plan. A coach can help you with that. The second half is the best time to set new goals, or revisit old ones and set some new ones. It's also a great time for a fresh start, so if there's something you've been wanting to work on, now is the time!

Conclusion

If you're looking for ways to make 2023 your best year ever, these tips can help. The key is to start with a commitment and then break that down into smaller steps. And don't forget to celebrate your progress along the way!
